I am an artist printmaker, creating Tree prints, wood engravings, woodcuts and Drypoint. I love trees and so I find the discarded pieces from fallen or cut trees, and I print them in honour of the life the tree had. Yew, Oak, Elm, Douglas Fir, Silver Fir, Damson, Mulberry and Ash. They all have their story to tell.
Pow Pots - Natalie Gibbons
I launched Pow Pots two years ago during maternity leave, after seeing a clear need for plant pots that weren't black, white, terracotta or mass-produced. Whilst the UK was enjoying a houseplants renaissance with lots of new and interesting varieties appearing, plant pots were sadly lacking behind. So Pow Pots was born - hand-painted plant pots with panache! I love plants and am inspired by Scandinavian design, colour and pattern. My pots are made out of fibreclay or cement and are cool, contemporary and colourful. Every one is individually hand-painted and unique, and I use eco-friendly paints and packaging. I'm now stocked in plant and interiors shops throughout the UK and Europe, and have created exclusive collections for both Selfridges and The Conran Shop. I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining the art scene at Grizedale Forest - two of my favourite things in the same place!
Jo Clayton - Designs from the Woods
Jo manages a woodland in the Rusland Valley, creating diverse habitat for wildlife and producing materials for her craft. Jo makes beautiful rustic furniture upholstered with classic and modern designer fabrics, and Heritage woodland crafts such as hand carves ‘Gypsy Flowers’ and ‘Sussex Pimps’. .
Lorna Singleton
I am a woodswoman and basketmaker working primarily with oak. I source my own material and my work begins as trees in an ancient woodland that has been coppiced and managed for hundreds of years for the purpose of making baskets. The woodland needs baskets to maintain its unique habitat.
I use my craft to explore my native landscape; using the natural resources surrounding me to further understand this land and its heritage. I need that relationship with the woodland as much as I need the creative act of weaving of a basket and constantly crave a deeper connection.
